Jennifer H. Scott Selected to the Mississippi Bar’s Leadership Forum 2014

Wise Carter would like to congratulate Jennifer H. Scott on her acceptance into the 2014 Class of The Mississippi Bar Leadership Forum. The Forum’s mission is to prepare Mississippi lawyers for future opportunities in leadership roles within their professional, political, civic, and community organizations.

Virginia S. Gautier Joins the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance

W. McDonald Nichols Named Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation

Wise Carter is pleased to announce that W. McDonald Nichols has been named a Fellow of The Mississippi Bar Foundation. Fifteen Bar Fellows were inducted at a dinner ceremony at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson, Mississippi on April 17, 2014.

With only 10% of the lawyers in Mississippi eligible for membership as a fellow, the Fellows designation serves as the Foundation’s highest honor. Fellows are selected for membership based on their excellence as a lawyer and dedication and service to the public and profession.

Wise Carter Sponsors Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference

Wise Carter sponsored the 2014 Annual Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference, which was held on April 9-11, 2014 at the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Over 500 individuals attended the three day conference, which featured a gathering of employers, insurers, TPA’s legal professionals, healthcare professionals, rehabilitation providers and others involved in the workers’ compensation field in Mississippi.

Jennifer H. Scott Speaks at “The Storms of ACA Compliance” Conference

On April 11, 2014, Jennifer H. Scott delivered a presentation entitled, “Healthcare Goes Viral – Using and Managing Social Media in Hospitals” at the MHA Society for Human Resources Administration’s “The Storms of ACA Compliance” program.

The event was held at the MHA Conference Center in Madison, Mississippi. Over 50 individuals participated in the meeting, which covered many of the mandates, taxes, and penalties for ACA compliance scheduled to take effect this year.

Wise Carter sponsored Mississippi Economic Council’s 65th Annual meeting, which was held on April 10, 2014 at the Jackson Convention Complex in Jackson, Mississippi. The meeting included a keynote message from award-winning author and entrepreneur Peter Sims and entertainment by Mississippi-born country music artist Steve Azar.

The annual meeting also included a “Mississippi Economy Panel,” which featured a group of entrepreneurs from across the state who addressed the impact of the creative economy on Mississippi’s economy.

Wise Carter Sponsors Walk & Roll for Research

Wise Carter sponsored the 5th annual Walk & Roll for Research to benefit the Wilson Research Foundation at Methodist Rehabilitation Center. The event was held on April 5, 2014 on the grounds of Methodist Specialty Care Center and the nearby walking trail along Mirror Lake and featured live music by Chris Gill and the Madison Central High School Jazz Band.

Proceeds will be given to Methodist Rehabilitation Center’s Center for Neuroscience and Neurology to help patients recover abilities after a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation or other disabling condition.
